Figure Skater Johnny Weir Is Dropping A New Single ‘Dirty Love!’

Johnny has already dominated men’s figure skating NOW he wants to try out his other strength … SINGING!

Johnny Weir, is temporarily hanging up his figure skates to lay down some tracks! We spoke with the the three-time U.S. National Men’s figure skating Champion at the Sex and the City 2 premiere in NYC May 24 and he spilled his next move! He tells HollywoodLife.com he teamed up with RuPaul’s producer, Lucian Piane to record a single called ‘Dirty Love.’


“I wrote the lyrics,” says Johnny. “This is something I always wanted to do, and Lucian had a beat already made so I was like I’ll write some words and we’ll sing it! And it’s actually really good.”

But why is it called ‘Dirty Love?’ “When you think dirty love you think automatically dirty sweaty sex and that’s not what the song is about,” he says. “It’s based on my relationship with the judges, and reporters how you kind of have to pretend to love somebody … It’s like my relationship with a bunch of people.”

Johnny, 25, even gave us the hook of the song!:

“I’m not scared of your dirty love
You think you know me but I’ll call your bluff
Better raise your game come on let's make some dirty love.”

He might even record more songs! “I hope so! I mean, I want to see how this first song does,” he says. “I mean, I’ve never thought of myself as a singer.”

Джонни сообщил, что каждую неделю смотрит на этом канале реалити-шоу RuPaul's Drag Race (конкурс, организованный по принципу "Лучшая новая топ-модель" с вариациями, в котором принимают участие драг-дивы, или, как сказали бы по-русски, трансвеститы, хотя это слово плохо звучит в данном случае). [...] К тому моменту, когда состоялась церемония, второй сезон этой программы еще не закончился. Позже Джонни был очень возмущен победой той дамы, которая добыла корону, потому что болел он совершенно за другую. Впрочем, недовольным остался не только он - там многие были возмущены.

"Catching up with Johnny Weir"

Sitting on a plane in Las Vegas about to depart for home, Johnny Weir had a few minutes to chat with us about judging the Miss USA Pageant, his first song, and meeting Cher.

Johnny, everyone is talking about your "bird jacket" that was styled by Rachel Zoe (stylist to celebrities like Jennifer Garner and Kate Hudson). Tell us about the jacket:

"It was pretty giant. It was supposed to be kind of funny. I was judging a pageant - I wanted to have fun and make a statement."

Who were your favorite contestants?

"Miss Michigan for her presence and Miss Pennsylvania because she's from my state and she's beautiful."

Best evening gowns? Miss Colorado is a figure skater and her dress had the most beading, did that sway your vote?

"My favorites were Alabama, Oklahoma, and Colorado. Leave it to a skater to wear more sparkle. We saw a small video on each contestant beforehand and every judge turned to me [when Miss Colorado mentioned figure skating]. Judges cannot personally know any of the contestants, but I met her after and she is sweet."

What was it like to judge instead of being judged?

"It was different. Most people think it's about crazy families and girls practicing their smiles, but it's more than that. It was like judging the Olympics. Girls have worked their whole lives for this and the title can change their life. [Judging] is a big responsibility. There is money and a lot at stake."

Before the pageant you were in Los Angeles recording your first song, "Dirty Love." How was that experience and what can you tell us about the song?

"I really sing and without a lot of tuning. I know I'm not a legitimate singer and I won't have a long career in music, but I enjoyed it..."Dirty Love" is a dance/pop track. I hope it will be released mid-summer. It is about my relationship with people and the media. You scratch each other's backs and then go for the throat. This is me talking back. I'm smarter than I get credit for and I can beat you at your own game."

You went to see Cher at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and tweeted that you met her after the show. Did she inspire any upcoming costumes or music selections?

"She is a true professional. She's in her sixties, singing live and still rocking hot pants. I was having second thoughts about wearing the [bird] jacket, but after [seeing Cher] I decided to wear it."

Will we see you competing this fall in the Grand Prix Series?

"I'm enjoying life. I want to skate, but if I am not prepared for next season I will let my fans know at the beginning of the summer. Worse comes to worse I will take next year off and re-asses."

Weir is taking a week to spend time with close friends before he heads to Russia, Australia, and Japan this summer.

Between the red carpets, recording a song, and a book deal, the three-time U.S. champion is certainly giving Olympic champ Kim Yu-Na a run for her money.

Being an occasional insomniac, I often find myself discovering shows on the tube at the oddest hours. Usually it's reruns of Cold Case which I've already seen or infomercials on how you can lose half your bodyweight in three months with some odd shaped machine that resembles a mini flying saucer. Then there are the days, or nights rather that you stumble upon a show that really captures your interest. Be Good Johnny Weir on the Sundance Channel was one of those shows that reeled me in. The show follows the life of Johnny who is a three time U.S. figure skating champion and World Medalist. I fell in love with Johnny because true, he is stylish, independent, and a fierce skater on ice, but he is also clearly someone with a heart of gold who works extremely hard, loves the people around him, and with all the pressure of skating perfect, being fit, and looking fabulous, he always remains true to who he is and lives his dream and passion.
So what a nice dessert it was to see of all people, Johnny Weir strolling down the red carpet following the entree of Chefs at Bon Appetit Vegas Uncork'd Weekend. All the culinary giants of Wynn/Encore, Caesars, MGM Grand, Venetian/Palazzo such as Bobby Flay, Guy Savoy, Charlie Palmer, and Hubert Keller took center stage, but I have to admit that I was extra thrilled to see Johnny strutting his stuff. Perhaps it was that neon yellow Balenciaga le dix bag Johnny was rockin' in the midst of all the chef's whites. Who knows...but I know that I was treated again to Johnny co-hosting the FENDI Fashion Feast Gala at the Bellagio the following night. We will have all the highlights of the event in the next following posts here on Food Fashionista, but for now, enjoy Johnny and I having a little chat on the red carpet.

DOUG ELFMAN: Naughty, naughty girls being real bad

Johnny Weir has the best idea of the week. He wants to bring a show to Vegas called "The Bad Girls of Skating," co-starring Tonya Harding, Nicole Bobek and other naughties.

"Get 'em all out there in bustiers and fishnets," he tells me.

Weir, Olympic skater and star of the Sundance Channel's "Be Good Johnny Weir," wants the skaters to re-create their bad-girl moments in front of paying crowds.

"It's perfect for Vegas," he says. "I've gotten really close to Kelly Osbourne. I know she would like to be involved. It would be amazing."

He sees "Bad Girls" as a summer show, this year or next. As for a location, he'd like to "see who can cut me a deal," he says and laughs.

Sadly, the Vegas idea is his "secondary" priority. His first concern is to try to put together a New York winter show. He explains:

"I want Lady Gaga singing over here, and Elton John singing over there, and Cirque du Soleil hanging from chandeliers, and fashion, and Johnny, and singing! I want it to be an old-fashioned spectacular."

Weir tells me all this at Caesars over the weekend. What's his favorite thing about Vegas? The helpful "ladies" at the Chanel, Fendi and Prada stores, of course.

"You don't get more strip mall, high fashion than Vegas. I love it," he says. "In New York, you have to (taxi) everywhere to go where you want. Here, it's all right where you need it."
